Dear Parishioners, this week we celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the season of Lent, a time for spiritual penance and renewal. Pope Francis has asked for a special day of prayer and fasting for a peaceful resolution to the situation in the Ukraine. This weekend we have a Pastoral Letter from Archbishop Bernard who will speak to us on the worrying situation in the Ukraine and on the theme of forgiveness. Let us listen attentively to our spiritual leader and shepherd as he breaks open the word of God for us. Here in our parish the Walk with Me booklets and calendars are available free of charge for you. During the season of Lent, we are encouraged to do something extra. One extra item on our weekly schedule is that on Fridays in Lent there will be a morning Mass at 9.30am and an evening Mass at 7.30pm both preceded by the Stations of the Cross at 8.45am and 6.45pm respectively. Often, we spend a great deal of time thinking about what we could do during Lent to help us spiritually. Could taking part in the Stations and Mass be the answer? God bless, Fr Andrew
